This special Coral Garden contains a number of beautiful and rarer varieties of Zoanthid Corals giving a variety of unusual colour. Under the right conditions these colonies will quickly branch out to become a beautiful carpet of special polyps across your rock. These colonies have been mounted on a Tonga branch and will be easily to place amongst your live rock.

The Zoanthus Colony Polyp Corals are also referred to as Zoas, button polyps and sea mats.  The most common colour is green however there are now spectacular variations of pink, blue, orange and multi coloured.  The Zoanthid Corals are colonial animals and hundreds of individual polyps can be found densely attached to single pieces of rock.

Zoanthid colonies are easy to care for and are excellent choices for the beginner reef aquarist.  They are considered semi-aggressive and although their sting is not very strong they should be placed away from other corals.  They require a moderate light level combined with moderate waterflow.  When settled and happy it won't be long before the colony buds (a polyp will split to form a new animal).  The Zoanthid corals contain the symbiotic algae zooxanthellae which takes care of the feeding for the animals however periodic feeding of micro-plankton and baby brine shrimp will also assist their well being and growth.
